IN MEMORY (2002-2014)

CFA Grand Premier Acadiacoons Rumford Red Baron

As a show cat, he had potential.  He did grand, but he hated the show halls...I think he took lessons from brother Gus.  I tried two shows with him as a grand and that was it.  He'd had enough!  So he was retired, at 11 months of age.

As a model, and local celebrity, Barney does quite well.  We've had a blast doing work with Iams, Eukanuba and Tidy Cats.  See Barney on various items and in magazine ads nation-wide.

More important than either of those things is his work as a certified therapy cat with Love on a Leash. He worked for many, many years visiting local hospitals and nursing homes.

I'm so saddened to report that on March 18, 2014, I lost my special boy. Rest in peace Barney & may we meet at the Rainbow Bridge. My heart and home isn't the same without you.

Words could never express my feelings towards this special, big guy. He truly melts my heart. We have a bond like no other. From traveling to shows, to working as a therapy cat, Barney, many days, doesn't seem like a cat, but more a person. He's never met a stranger and everyone who meets him says they'll never forget him. As a baby, he stole my heart.  I actually didn't want a RED cat....but he chose me, and besides, who could turn this face down?!  Now I can't imagine my life without this RED cat.

He is one of the largest cats in the world, at 49 inches in length, although he is fairly lean, weighing a mere 24 lbs. Pictured below he is with my friend, and former vet, Dr. Sarah Hansen.

Barney's #1 fan, Marie. Painting done off of a photo of the two of them. This is a typical pose for them.

An outtake from an IAMS photo shoot done of Barney acting silly on set.
